Here’s The Update On The NRL-Crashing Black Cat You’ve Been Longing For

Yesterday we brought you footage of what’s been described as one of the greatest things that’s ever happening in the game of rugby league.

You’re not hallucinating: a black medium-haired domestic cat really *did* bolt along the halfway line before turning a v. abrupt 90 degrees to sprint along the touchline towards the goal post.
Commentator Andrew Johns interrupted coverage of Sunday’s Cronulla Sharks v. Penrith Panthers game at Pepper Stadium to confirm the sighting, stuttering “I just saw a cat runnin’ down the field.”
Myriad questions followed: how did the cat get into the stadium? Where did it run off to? Does it have owners? What’s its name? IS IT OK OH GOD PLS LET IT BE.
Not much information was immediately available, but the Panthers have since posted an update letting punters know kitty is believed to be a local stray, and has been sighted at Pepper Stadium before.
“Thanks to all those who have enquired about the wellbeing of the black cat who stole the show during yesterday’s game at Pepper Stadium.

We understand the feline is a friendly stray who has been spotted around Pepper Stadium over the last few years – although never before on the field during an NRL game!

While we have been unable to locate the black cat following its shock NRL debut, spectators who witnessed our furry friend dashing out of precinct reported it looked ‘inspired’ by its brief taste of stardom.”
The club also took the opportunity to bastardise the joyous sighting by running a name-the-cat competition.
Look what came out as the winner:
May we suggest Brad Kittler?
