England Take Notice As Heskey Becomes A Goal-Scoring Revelation

Emile Heskey is proving to be quite the wily goal sneak to the point where the the fickle press from his native England have stood up and taken notice. The long time source of mockery and ridicule on account of his meager goal returns, Heskey’s 4 goals in 4 games effort has been the driving force being the Newcastle Jets surge to the top of the Hyundai A-League ladder.

With ESPN UK running the headline Heskey for England?! and The Sun reporting that Heskey was ‘a sensation in OZ‘, Newcastle and the A-League are certainly getting bang for their buck in terms of on-field performance and international coverage.

Alessandro Del Piero’s
signing was hailed as the greatest in A-League history, where Heskey’s was met with a more skepticism. Fans and pundits predicted it might take some time for Heskey to warm into his role, he did go six years without scoring a goal in international football after all, but bar a sluggish opening match, Heskey has been all class and has become an instant fan favorite. Del Peirro has been a class above teammates and opponents alike but Newcastle have adapted to Heskey’s presence far better than Sydney FC to Del Pierro.
