WATCH: David Warner Snares The First Classic Catch Of The Men’s Ashes

Mates, it is bloody CRICKET season at long last. And not only that, it’s the Ashes. The greatest rivalry of all. Day 1 of the first Ashes Test in Brisbane provided scant few highlights thanks to a lengthy rain delay, but Day 2 has finally brought the goods in the form of David Warner reeling in an absolute screamer.

With the Aussies circling an English tail that had so little wag in it it might as well have been a stick, Warner – fielding in the seldom-seen position of leg slip – nabbed a glancing push from Jake Ball off the bowling of Mitchell Starc.

It’s a textbook Classic Catch – one to show the juniors. Diving away to the right, mid-air, still managing to get two hands to it. An absolute pearler.

That’s solid fundamentals executed perfectly right there. That’s the kind of technique that’ll allow you to confidently go one-handed at a rogue tennis ball in the backyard while cradling – and not spilling – an ice cold Darren Froth.

Howzat? It’s bloody good, mates. Cricket is back and it is bloody good.
