Danny Macaskill’s New Film ‘The Ridge’ Is As Breathtaking As It Is Terrifying

Sometimes when you were a kid and you got yourself a sparkling brand new Malvern Star or Huffy for Christmas you’d get a head full of steam after a morning of doing fully siq skidz all over Grandad’s freshly Karcher’d driveway and he’d tell you to rack off and call you a ratbag. So then you’d head off into the parklands nearby and suddenly you’d come across a little ledge or a fallen tree branch that the path built up over and it’d look enormous to your child-like eyes, but you’d still think to yourself – I could totally jump that shit. And then, well…

A few stinging dabs of Dettol and a pair of Ninja Turtle bandaids later and you’d decided that a career as a Mountain Bike rider is probably a little bit out of your reach.
But then there’s the kids that not only landed that mad jump, but popped a fresh as hell mono afterwards. A few of those kids would go on to become pretty decent Mountain Bike riders. But only one of them grew up to be Danny Macaskill – certified nutcase and one of the most ridiculously competent people on two wheels.
Macaskill is world renowned for his abilities on his bike, but his newest video takes things to a whole new level entirely.
The Ridge takes Macaskill back to his native Scotland to tackle the spectacular – and intimidating looking – Cuillin Ridgeline on the Isle of Skye. Seriously, this rock formation was not meant to be traversed by man, let alone a man on a dang bike. This is the Earth’s way of telling all living creatures to GTFO and give me some peace and quiet. And yet, here’s Danny doing ridiculous things all up on it.
The skills on display are the absolute world’s best, and the scenery is beyond breathtaking. Believe us when we say that this is a damned good 7 minutes watch.
Czech it out.
