Daly Cherry-Evans To Be Dropped By Queensland For Origin III

He might be the newly inked richest man in Australian Rugby League, but money sure as shit can’t buy you Origin glory.

Manly‘s million dollar man Daly Cherry-Evans is set to lose his spot in the Queensland squad for the hotly anticipated deciding third match in the 2015 State of Origin series.
The Maroons formal team announcement is slated for later this afternoon, but it is understood that DCE has remained in Sydney and is engaging in regular club duties, whilst the rest of the selected Maroons squad assembles in Brisbane.
After starting on the field in Game II of the series in Melbourne for just the second time in his career, Cherry-Evans will lose that spot to the returning Cooper Cronk, who sat out the clash at the MCG with a knee injury.
Cherry-Evans also looks set to be overlooked for the squad entirely, missing out on a bench spot in favour of North Queensland’s Michael Morgan, who came into the squad in Game 1 to replace DCE who sat it out with a shoulder injury.
Raiders forward Josh Papalii is also set to come back on to the Queensland bench, with Roosters rival Dylan Napa stepping aside.
Despite withdrawing from tonight’s Melbourne Storm game against the Bulldogs, Queensland coach Mal Meninga confirmed that Cooper Cronk will indeed be taking his place on the field for the Maroons.
Game III of the State of Origin goes down at Suncorp Stadium in the heart of Maroon territory, on Wednesday July 8th.
