Roosters Legend Cooper Cronk Somehow Lost His New $10K NRL Premiership Ring In An Esky

If you’re a Canberra Raiders fan, you may have found a poetic beauty in Sydney Roosters star Cooper Cronk losing his premiership ring after last night’s NRL Grand Final.

After an insanely controversial referee’s call tilted the game in the Roosters’ favour, there was a certain symmetry to the disappearance of Cronk’s silverware, as if the League gods deemed it an improper reward.

But, like the match itself, it just wasn’t to be. Cronk’s ring was eventually found in a bloody esky.

AAP reports the serial premiership winner lost the $10,000 ring during his team’s celebrations after the 14-8 victory, sparking a miniature search party in the Roosters’ changing room.

“I think in all the jumping around and cheering; I’ve got bad fingers and it must have slid off,” the 35-year-old said.

It was located by a volunteer, who quickly repatriated the 160-diamond ring with its new owner.

Outside of its symbolic importance, the the ring is a serious piece of kit. Designed by none other than North Queensland great Johnathan Thurston, each ring is engraved with its recipients’ jersey number.

With the ring back in his grasp, Cronk said “It will collect dust somewhere.”

Not like a Canberra player would have liked to show it off, or anything…
