The Nevada Athletic Commission has formally slapped both Conor McGregor and Khabib Nurmagomedov with suspensions following the borderline-riot that occurred following their fight at last weekend’s chaotic UFC 229 event in Las Vegas.

The suspensions were handed down earlier this morning, but curiously enough will last a mere 10 days initially, with the suspensions to commence as of October 15th.

However, that suspension is only temporary while the Commission investigates the wild scenes, which saw Nurmagomedov leap out of the UFC cage and attacking members of McGregor’s ringside camp following the conclusion of the fight, which Khabib won via submission. The investigation panel is set to convene on October 24th, after which they can opt to extend the temporary suspension.

McGregor and Nurmagomedov, however, retain the right to appeal at any time they choose.

Nurmagomedov has responded to the suspension in furious fashion, demanding to know why action was only taken now, and not when McGregor infamously spiked a hand truck through the window of a bus carrying Nurmagomedov and his team in April. That incident occurred backstage in Brooklyn, in the jurisdiction of the New York State Athletic Commission, who took no action on the fighters due to the incident occurring outside the bounds of a sanctioned MMA event.

However UFC officials’ inaction on McGregor – who was formally charged with assault by NYPD over the incident – has enraged Nurmagomedov to the point of threatening to outright quit the company should members of his team be fired as a result of the UFC 229 debacle.

In an Instagram post made earlier this morning, Nurmagomedov threatened to break his UFC contract on the spot if the company fires teammate Zubaira Tukhugov over his involvement in the post-match brawl.

I would like to address @ufc Why didn't you fire anyone when their team attacked the bus and injured a couple of people? They could have killed someone there, why no one says anything about insulting my homeland, religion, nation, family? Why do you have to punish my team, when both teams fought. If you say that I started it, then I do not agree, I finished what he had started. In any case, punish me, @zubairatukhugov has nothing to do with that. If you think that I’ll keep silent then you are mistaken. You canceled Zubaira’s fight and you want to dismiss him just because he hit Conor. But don’t forget that it was Conor who had hit my another Brother FIRST, just check the video. if you decide to fire him, you should know that you’ll lose me too. We never give up on our brothers in Russia and I will go to the end for my Brother. If you still decide to fire him, don’t forget to send me my broken contract, otherwise I'll break it myself. And one more thing, you can keep my money that you are withholding. You are pretty busy with that, I hope it won’t get stuck in your throat. We have defended our honor and this is the most important thing. We intend to go to the end. #Brothers

The US$2million Nurmagomedov was to be paid for the fight has been withheld by the Nevada Athletic Commission pending the conclusion of the investigation into the brawl. However, McGregor’s US$3million share of the purse has been paid to the Irishman.
