Brissy Lions Acting Out ‘Zoolander’ To Sell Merch Is An Avalanche Of Cringe

To sell their “really, really, really ridiculously good looking merchandise (and players)“, the Brisbane Lions made a very poor decision.
They decided to make a ‘humorous’ tribute to the much loved ‘Zoolander‘ walk-off scene by quoting it verbatim, then strutting around their store dressed in traditional garb, like Lions-branded vests and hats and stuff. All intercut with actual footage of their screaming fans.
Oh yes: Michael Close plays Ben Stiller‘s Derek Zoolander, while Liam Dawson is slightly less wooden as his rival, Owen Wilson‘s Hansel McDonald. Mitch Robinson straight up ruins the greatest role of all, Bowie, the judge of the contest.
Of course, the reenactment ends with Robinson declaring the winner “the Lions fans“.
That was a close one, very hard to call. But I believe the real winner here is the Lions fans. So come down to the Lions Shop for the annual Clear The Den sale. And go the Lions! Hashtag All For One! YIEW!
Oh yes, Close and Dawson join in for the “YIEW!” It is a notoriously difficult-to-pull-off group yiew. And yes, Robinson says ‘hashtag’ out loud.

The video, posted to Facebook on Friday, frankly does not deserve its 50K views. But it’s okay, because the world is as it should be – the video has been roundly and deservedly sledged, one commenter writing: “The Brisbane Lions shop for people who can’t dress good, model and do other good stuff too..”
For contrast, we could show you the original walk-off scene, but this is better:
