Bloody Legend David Warner Awarded Second Allan Border Medal In A Row

David Warner has secured his second Allan Border medal in a row, essentially securing the big-hitter’s spot as one of Australia’s legends of the game.

The opening batsman was effusive in his praise for his teammates and family, and said he hoped the Australian team could continue to win a few more games. A bit of an understatement, that, but when your play speaks that loudly we guess you’re allowed to take it easy on the boasts.
He beat out Mitchell Starc and captain Steve Smith on his way to the honour.

Warner also copped the One Day International Player of the Year honour. Starc was recognised as Test Player of the Year after his heroics in Sri Lanka, and Shane Watson took out T20 International Player of the Year, seeing his short-form career out in impressive style.

Domestically, Victoria guns Cameron White and Meg Lanning were awarded Men’s and Women’s Player of the Year, respectively. Lanning, the legend, also copped the Belinda Clark Award as the best Aussie International female cricketer for the third time.

Hilton Cartright was acknowledged as the Bradman Young Cricketer of the Year after nabbing a Baggy Green during this month’s third test against Pakistan, and Sophie Molineux was honoured as the Betty Wilson Young Cricketer of the Year for her efforts in the Melbourne Renegades outfit.

Bloody legends, the lot of ’em.
