Harry Potter Day Is Coming To The Australian Open & Now I’m 100% On The Tennis Bandwagon

Harry Potter Day

In a step forward for wizard-muggle relations, the 2020 Australian Open is hosting a Harry Potter Day. Don’t question it, just go with it.

On Monday, January 27, the good people of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child will bring some magic to the AO Ballpark for a day of family fun. And look, even though this is totally pitched at families, I – a grown adult – will absolutely rock up in my robes. I don’t care.

Gyton Grantley, who plays adult Ron Weasley in the play, will swap his wand for a racket at the AO with his fellow magical folk. The day will also feature a spell-casting show, big screen viewings of the Harry Potter movies (yes, please), and a lil’ meet and greet with the stars of the play.

Impeccable casting if I do say so myself.

Side note: Grantley and the crew recently celebrated their 200th show onstage.

“In reality that’s 400 performances!!! Close to 700,000 audience members!” the actor shared on Instagram last week.

Anywho, Harry Potter Day also includes the chance for one (1) extremely lucky family to win a trip for four to the Harry Potter Studio Tour in London, including flights and accomodation. The team will also be giving away tickets to Cursed Child on the day, so lots to look forward to. To enter, you must come dressed as your fave character from the Wizarding World. Depending on the weather, maybe don’t rock up in full beard attire.

Harry Potter and the Cursed Child is playing at Melbourne’s Princes Theatre right now. You can learn more about the two-part extravaganza / book your tickets right HERE.

The 2020 Australian Open kicks off today, Monday, 20 January to Sunday, 2 February. Catch all the action on the Nine Network.
