Australia Thrashes England In Cricket World Cup Opening Match

The 2015 Cricket World Cup is off to an absolutely beautiful start for team Australia, after yesterday afternoon’s stellar match against England at the MCG to kick off the competition.

The Baggy Greens brought it home yesterday after dominating England with a winning margin of 111 runs in the match’s 42nd over. The clear win over England was a bold opening statement for the team, only confirming their place as one of the front-runners of the competition, likely to make it to the World Cup’s final stage later next month.

Yesterday, New Zealand also proved their growing prowess in a win over Sri Lanka in Auckland by 98 runs. The game was made especially memorable after a certified loose unit with a keen eye made an incredible one-handed catch off a Blackcaps bat – the move may see the punter collect up to NZ$1 million in prize money through a beer brand’s promotion.

For those of you playing at home, Australia’s next matches of the Cricket World cup to pencil in your diary are…

Australia vs. Bangladesh: Saturday February 21, Brisbane
Australia vs. New Zealnd: Saturday February 28, Auckland
Australia vs. Afghanistan: Wednesday March 4, Perth
Australia vs. Sri Lanka: Sunday March 8, Sydney
