Barty said she felt very fortunate to be nominated amongst so many other empowering women in Australia.

“To come away with the win is a bonus,” she said.

Barty also scored the Moment Of The Year Award at the ceremony for her glorious 2019 French Open Grand Slam win.

Elsewhere in the night, netball legend Liz Ellis was inducted into the Hall of Fame for obvious reasons, and the Aussie women’s cricket team was awarded A-Team of the Year.

A week ago, Barty became the first women’s tennis player to be honoured at the annual Sports Australia Hall of Fame awards. The Don is presented to an athlete whose sportsmanship and performance most inspired the nation.

“I can’t quite believe it to be honest,” Barty said.

“When I look at my fellow nominees this year and people who have won the award before, I feel honoured to be a part of such an inspiring and talented group of Australians.”

Not that this tops three very impressive awards, but Barty just copped her own limited edition Vegemite Bartymite jar. Pitched as the Breakfast of Champions, Bartymite is available in all major supermarkets from mid-October, until sold out.
