Anthony Mundine and Daniel Geale will fight on January 30 next year at the Sydney Entertainment Centre. Knowing a loss will almost certainly end his career, Mundine is taking the opportunity to do what he does best; talk!
Here are some of his more outlandish statements from today’s press conference:
“I’m the best athlete ever, man.“
“You ain’t at my level Daniel, you know it. This fight I’m going to dominate.”
“He’s a volume puncher, that’s all he’s good at. I’ll be throwing just as many but mine will be more furious than his.”
“It doesn’t matter who you’re fighting; King Kong, Superman, Batman. I whipped him once I’m going to whip him again.”
“The only way this boy can go on to win is if they rob me.”
Geale tried valiantly on several occasions to verbally match it with Mundine but he clearly doesn’t have the chat to compete with The Man. The fight will be Australia’s most anticipated battle since Mundine’s fight against Danny Green at the SFS in 2006. Mundine walked the walk on that occasion but Geale is very much a fighter on the rise.
