Former Wallaby and current homophobe Israel Folau has found support for his return to the rugby league in the most unlikely of places as NRLW player Ali Brigginshaw as voiced her opinion on the matter.

Brigginshaw went viral after last year’s NRLW grand final win when she kissed her partner Kate Daly after the victory.

The 31-year-old captain of the Brisbane Broncos NRLW team is in a long-term same-sex relationship with Kate Daly, which she has shared publicly on multiple occasions.

“I’ve never been one to hide my affection,” Brigginshaw said after the photo of her and Kate kissing went viral. “She’s the person I love … I have her here and I’m not going to say, ‘I can’t show you affection at the game’.”

“Kate is the reason why I train hard; my family is a reason I train hard, and I go up and give them a big hug and a kiss and that doesn’t mean any different to when I go up and give her a kiss.”

Israel’s contract with Rugby (Union) Australia was scrapped last year after her posted a homophobic Instagram photo that he now claims was an expression of religious freedom. After Rugby Australia pulled the pin on his whopping $4 million contract, Israel was quick to respond with a big fat unfair dismissal lawsuit.

Those that are living in Sin will end up in Hell unless you repent. More recently, Folau has attempted to return to rugby league as part of the Tongan team in an upcoming tournament against Australia. But the NRL and ARL Commission are fighting pretty hard to stop Folau from ever playing professionally again, 9 News reports.

However, Ali Brigginshaw (who would fall under the LGBTQI+ category that Folau declared were “awaiting hell”) is surprisingly in support of Folau’s return to the league.

“It’s his opinion. I just wish he didn’t share it on social media,”  she told Hit105 radio. “If he is allowed back into it I think he doesn’t need to voice his opinions there.”

“I think he’s an amazing player and it’s disappointing that he wrote that … but I don’t think he should be disadvantaged from playing.”

Although Ali is happy for Folau to return to the sport, the decision will ultimately be up to the Rugby League International Federation.
