It’s been a Lance Armstrong overload this past few months but one small English town is set to expunge their collective frustrations and disappointment with a good old-fashioned cathartic effigy burning. The 30ft model will be set alight in front of thousands of people by members of the Edenbridge Bonfire Society (where can I join I hear you ask?).
Spokesman Mark Young said: “Lance Armstrong is certainly the biggest villain in sport, with fans across the globe feeling cheated by a man who was thought to be whiter than white.”
The most appealing/disturbing thing, depending on how sane you think burning effigies is, about the whole affair is that this is an annual event and is part of a 10 week bonfire season.
