After being an on-and-off Tinder user for a fair few years now (I chose the single life, not the other way around as everyone rudely assumes), it seems that I’m still not improving my dating game in the slightest.
You see, most people usually stop replying to me after I panic and send a message along the lines of, “So what would you study at Hogwarts? I personally think I’d excel at Transfiguration but I’m partial to Defence Against the Dark Arts which people say is rare for a Hufflepuff, but I’ve always been one to break stereotypes.”

And while I was starting to question whether I needed to tone it down a couple thousand notches, it appears that I’m far from the only one who factors in Harry Potter while they flex their swiping finger.
Tinder just released their Year in Swipe wrap-up of 2018 which details stats including the most used emojis, top professions people swipe right to, most popular terms and food mentioned, as well as the top celebs to feature in people’s Tinder bio.
Uno numero on that list? Your fave moody-ass wizard, Harry Potter.
While I’m all for a solid HP pun in a Tinder bio, I have a few questions. Namely, how did a fictional character beat out actual celebs? To give you some perspective, here are the top seven celeb mentions in Aussies’ bios for 2018:

A few extra interesting takeaways, the term ‘lit’ was in the top three for Most Popular Slang in Bio which is not surprising whatsoever, the Most Popular Emoji was a dog and Harry Potter also took the crown for Most Popular Movie, so that’s another victory for the Wizarding World.
My final question is that if Harry Potter seems to dominate the Tinder charts, why the fuck do I find myself having to explain to my pleb matches what a Remembrall is?
