Suss Out The Cast Of Ian Somerhalder’s New Vampire Netflix Series ‘V-Wars’

Ordinarily when a teen drama show/film series ends, the lead stars literally want ~nOtHiNg~ to do with the franchise that rose them to fame and refuse to even talk about it, let alone star in future revivals. Just ask Zac Efron if he’d do a High School Musical 4 and watch him spit in your face. But Ian Somerhalder seems keen AF to embrace his vampiric past as he’s signed on to another vampy show, V-Wars.

While the Netflix series has no connection to The Vampire Diaries saga, it’s the next chapter in pop culture vampires and I’m so bloody here for it (pun totally intended).

Somerholder plays Dr. Luther Swann, a guy who’s (ironically) trying to stop humans from being turned into vamp-esque creatures by a mysterious disease that spreads through society. The world eventually becomes an apocalyptic kinda vibe where it’s humans vs. vampires and Dr. Swann leads the charge to stop the Salvatores of the world.

Sounds pretty sick, dunnit?

The series is based on the book franchise of the same name, written by New York Times best-selling author Jonathan Maberry.

Other stars to be cast include Laura Vandervoort (Supergirl), Kyle Breitkopf (The Whispers) and Kimberly-Sue Murray (Crimson Peak) along with Adrian Holmes (Arrow), Jacky Lai (The Flash) and Peter Outerbridge (Suits).

It comes one year after Somerhalder signed off of The CW‘s TVD following its eight-season run. He currently has a pod deal with TVD producers Warner Bros. Television with actress Nikki Reed, his wife, via their Rare Bird Productions banner.

Filming on the highly anticipated series is set to start v soon so get your fake fangs ready, bbs.
