Singer Justin Bieber is reportedly struggling with depression and has sought medical treatment, PEOPLE reveals.
An insider told the publication that the recently-wedded star “seems down and tired. He has been struggling a bit.”
Another source added that Justin “struggles a lot with the idea of fame—being followed, having his every move stalked by fans, cameras in his face. It all sets him off and he often feels like everyone is out to get him.”
The insider said that being in the public eye heavily weighs on his mind and is impacting his mental health.
“He had access to anything and everything and was surrounded by people who just said ‘Yes,’” they explained.
He is currently getting help through counselling and “he seems confident he will feel better soon.”
The insider insists that Bieber’s new bride Hailey Bieber is not to blame for his mental and emotional state.
“It has nothing to do with Hailey—he is very happy being married to her. It’s just something else that he struggles with mentally,” they said.
Justin and Hailey recently featured on the cover of Vogue where he discussed how fame has affected him and how he turned to drugs to cope with the stress.
“I found myself doing things that I was so ashamed of, being super-promiscuous and stuff, and I think I used Xanax because I was so ashamed…I got really depressed on tour. I haven’t talked about this, and I’m still processing so much stuff that I haven’t talked about. I was lonely. I needed some time.”
