It’s a common sentiment, but one that ultimately rings true. You’ve got to be there for yourself in life because at the end of the day all that you’ve really got, is you.

Which is why looking after yourself both mentally and physically is so bloody important. In a world where we’re bombarded with social media comments telling us what we need to look like and what we should be doing, showing a bit of self-love can do wonders.

Just take a page out of Ashlie Bautista‘s book, who hopped on Twitter to remind everyone of a v important message.

So last night, I wore something that I never thought I would wear,” she wrote. “I’m very insecure but with the help of my amazing friends for hyping me up, I was able to wear it and gained a little bit more confidence in myself.”

Speaking to Teen Vogue, Ashlie revealed that the support of her friend’s helped her feel comfortable in the dress.

“[They] told me that I looked amazing in the dress and that I should wear it out to show everyone that I was beautiful.

By the end of the night, I was so happy that I wanted my friends to take pictures of me, which they did.

At the time of writing, her post had been liked over 320,000 times and garnered more than 31,000 retweets, with a whole heap of kind comments flowing in from strangers all around the world.

Big props to Ashlie for having the bravery to share the post, and even bigger props to the strangers on the internet who answered her call <3
