Pop Saviour Halsey Is Apparently Going To Star In A Movie About Her Own Life

Halsey is going to star in a movie loosely based on her own life, according to Deadline.

The singer, who is currently touring Oz off the back of her sophomore album Hopeless Fountain Kingdom, has reportedly signed a deal with Sony Pictures for the rights to her life story – all 23 years of it.

According to Deadline, it was pitched as ‘her own 8 Mile‘, though assumedly there will be less rapping about mum’s spaghetti.

Considering her latest album debuted at #1 on the US Billboard 200 charts, it’s clear that the Halsey story is far from over, so the news is a little confusing.

That’s not to suggest there isn’t a lot to work with: the movie will reportedly focus on Halsey growing up biracial in New Jersey and the hardships, both financial and mental, she faced to get to where she is now, rising to fame by releasing songs through Tumblr & Youtube.

At age 17, Halsey was diagnosed as bipolar after a failed attempt to take her own life. She has also spoken openly several times about her struggles with endometriosis and her own experiences with sexual assault. Notably, she gave a rousing speech/poem at this year’s Women’s March in New York City.

There’s not a lot of concrete information about the biopic at the moment, but we did also get a little tidbit to tie us over.

Reportedly, Halsey will also have a small role in Bradley Cooper‘s directorial debut A Star Is Born, a musical starring Lady Gaga, Cooper and RuPaul’s Drag Race alum Willam & Shangela. The film has a tentative release for October.
