Riverdale actor Charles Melton has found himself in some hot water over a bunch of tweets that he posted pre-Reggie days ‘coz as we know, the shit you post online never goes away!
According to screenshots shared on Twitter, Melton wrote a bunch of offensive and demeaning posts throughout the course of 2011-2012, including the following:
“Fat chicks need to understand that wear yoga pants is a privilege, not a right.”
“Headed to the gym. Word of wisdom for the day…if your fat…don’t look in the mirror.”
“I find it hilarious when fat people say they need to start eating right. When they have already mastered the art of chewing and swallowing :D.”
“Don’t tease fat kids, they already have enough on their plates.”
Two tweets were also uncovered where the actor says that the only reason he feels motivated to go to the gym is to perv on “the girl in the skirt” who sits in front of him. He also shared a photo of said girl and ugh… just ugh.

Soon after the tweets started doing the ’rounds online, Melton issued an apology to his fans via Refinery29.
“I’m truly sorry for making inconsiderate comments several years ago and apologise to anyone I hurt. What I posted and said was immature, offensive and inappropriate. I am ashamed of how I acted and there is no excuse for that behaviour.”
“I’m striving to do better and will use this experience to grow, helping others to understand how these types of statements are completely unacceptable.”

Charles is the second Riverdale star to be outed for fat-shaming on social media. Last year, KJ Apa came under fire for ‘liking’ an Instagram comment that read:
“Making fun of fat people is the only thing that’s gonna stop those useless bags of sh*t dying a fat early death.”
Noticing the heavy backlash, Melton quickly put his Twitter account on private but this hasn’t stopped fans from @ing him to call out his actions, with some also bringing up KJ’s fat shaming past.
