Billie Eilish Finally Announces Debut Album & Drops A Creepy-Ass Video

After totally smashing it with three (3) songs in the top half of the 2018 Hottest 100, and being announced for the annual Groovin’ The Moo festival this year, Billie Eilish has finally dropped details about her debut album. She’s here! It’s happening!

The 17-year-old shared what we expect is the cover of her first album (which is also really fkn creepy) along with the album title on her Instagram yesterday, and folks it’s hitting us on March 29. That’s so soon! Ahhhhh.

Billie out here lookin’ like the horrors under our beds, fuck’s sake. I mean if I wasn’t already making a huge leap to my bed as soon as I turn off my bedroom light then I sure as hell am now.

This album announcement wasn’t the only creeped-out thing that Billie blessed us with this week, cos overnight she also dropped the video to her new single, ‘bury your friend‘, where she plays both a mischevious bad spirit/ghost/haunted thing, and herself being tormented and possessed by the same demon.

The whole thing is some real The Shining/Paranormal Activity/The Exorcist vibes and I both love it and am utterly spooked by it. Seriously just watch it.

bury a friend‘ joins other singles ‘you should see me in a crown‘ and ‘when the party’s over‘ on the tracklist for her first album, and looking at the mood of all these singles, I’m thinking Billie’s going to be leaning into the whole 90s industrial-tinged, deep-fuzzy-bass thing and I’m extremely here for it.

In a press release about WWFAWDWG (yeah it’s a bit of a mouthful either way), Billie said that when her and her brother/producer/main collaborator Finneas O’Connell penned down ‘bury a friend‘, the whole vibe of the album fell into place.

When we made ‘bury a friend,’ the whole album clicked in my head. I immediately knew what it was going to be about, what the visuals were going to be, and everything in terms of how I wanted it to be perceived. It inspired what the album is about.

‘bury a friend’ is literally from the perspective of the monster under my bed. If you put yourself in that mindset, what is this creature doing or feeling?

I also confess that I’m this monster, because I’m my own worst enemy. I might be the monster under your bed too.

Hell yes mates, this album is going to be a big ol’ MOOD.

Catch Billie Eilish at Groovin’ The Moo this year, which hits regional centres across Australia over April and May, and you can preorder her debut album over here.
