We Do Not Regret To Inform You That Ariana Grande’s New Single Is A Bop

Ariana Grande has rewarded us mere mortal beings with a new single ‘No Tears To Cry’.

It’s her first since her cover of ‘Over The Rainbow’, a charity single released to raise funds for those affected by the bombings at her May 2017 concert in Manchester. Since her world tour finished in September, Grande’s made few public appearances.

Given the backdrop of the bombings, the song can be read as Grande respectfully moving on from the event to focus on what she does best: infectious and confidence-building bangers.

The up-beat bop features all of the iconic Grande vocal runs and spoken-word moments. We are living – and so are fans.

Thankfully, fans have had time to prepare for the moment. Grande promised it earlier this week with a couple of tweets:

There was also the profile pic change, which showed Grande moving her trademark high ponytail to a low one. This was massive, since she used to literally cut holes in hats so she could keep up the look.

The accompanying music video sees Grande dance, sing and fall (!!!) through a gravity-folding cityscape, strutting and dancing across building walls and ceilings. It lends some context to that upside-down text she’s been using on Twitter.

The utter trip was directed by Dave Meyers, who, among other things, bought us the music video for Kendrick Lamar‘s Hottest 100-topping banger ‘Humble’.

At its end, Grande watches a bee fly by, a reference to Manchester’s city crest – after the attacks, she and many survivors got tattoos of bees.

Watch it now, play it on repeat, be happy Grande has returned.
