Thank U

Our queen and saviour Ariana Grande has gifted us a little snippet from the behind-the-scenes video of ‘Thank U, Next’.

Unless you’ve been living in a deep dark hole, you might’ve noticed Ari’s been casually breaking YouTube and Vevo records with the bop’s music video – a love letter to iconic 00s films Bring It On, Suddenly 30, Legally Blonde, and Mean Girls.

Casually.

Not to mention cameos from Kris Jenner, Troye Sivan, the actual and ageless Paulette Bonafonté AKA Jennifer Coolidge and Jonathan Bennett – the real Aaron Samuels.

Honestly, let’s just relive it.

UGH.

Moving on, Ari shared the new BTS video to her Twitter and Instagram, moments ago.

“Behind the scenes of day 1 (of three) full video will be up in the am,” she captioned the video.

AM will very much be overnight for us but at least we have the little teaser to enjoy.

“We are here on the set of ‘Thank U, Next, my first number one single,” she says making me sob again.

I’m definitely seeing things that did not make it into the official vid like Ariana recreating that scene in Legally Blonde where Elle and Paulette head on over to her rubbish ex-husband’s place to get her dog Rufus back. Right!?

ANYWHOO, over on Twitter Ari revealed just how she came up with the song. Turns out, she was having a shit day so she headed to Tiffany‘s with a couple of mates, had some champagne, then BAM – million dollar song.

Ari shares the rings with six of her friends plus her mum and granny.

So according to Billboard‘Thank U, Next’ broke the record for most simultaneous views on a YouTube premiere with 829,000 people watching the video at once. Then, it went and shattered the record for most views on a YouTube video in the first 24 hours – 47 million views. AND THEN, it blew past Vevo’s 24 hour record surpassing 50 million views.

At the time of writing, ‘Thank U, Next’ has an easy 69 million views and doesn’t appear to be slowing down at all.
