Zsa Zsa The English Bulldog Wins World’s Ugliest Doggo Of 2018

I must preface this by saying no dog is ugly – they’re all pure, pure angels. Now that that’s clear, Zsa Zsa, an English Bulldog has been crowned the World’s Ugliest Dog for 2018 in San Francisco.

The competition, which is held at the Sonoma-Marin Fairgrounds in Petaluma, attracts hundreds of dogs every year. And despite the name, the contest celebrates that not every dog has to meet the pedigree standards to stand out and be loved. At this competition, you’re adored for duck waddles, lolling tongues, hairless bodies, and crossed eyes.

If you’re unfamiliar with how one would win such a mighty contest – the dogs, accompanied by their human, strut their stuff down the red carpet to a bunch of cheers, clapping, and a very professional judging panel.

For this year’s 30th World’s Ugliest Dog contest, Zsa Zsa travelled from Minnesota to walk the carpet with her human, Megan Brainard. And For her lewks, the gal took home USD $1,500 and a shiny trophy. The pooch will now be flown to New York for media appearances ‘cos she’s famous now.

But the day isn’t just about lewks – the pre-show and entertainment involves a People’s Choice Award and educational classes about pet care and adoption.

Just look at Zsa Zsa’s blue steel:

The 9-year-old’s collar reads “Big Girls Drool”. I CRY.

Zsa Zsa did have some tough competition though including a blackhead-covered Chinese Crested-Dachshund mutt, a bulldog mix with excess wrinkly skin, and a Pekingese named Wild Thang.

Last year, Martha, the Neapolitan Mastiff took home the win after spending most of her red carpet time on her belly, in a sign I can only assume means we are not worthy of her velvety wrinkles.
