A pooch named Scamp the Tramp has claimed the 2019 World’s Ugliest Dog title at the 31st annual dog contest.

Held at the Sonoma-Marin Fairgrounds in Petaluma, San Francisco, the dog contest attracts hundreds of pooches ever year. As you can guess by its name, this competition celebrates the duck waddles, the lolling tongues, hairless bodies, buckteeth, and the crossed eyes because not every dog has to meet the pedigree standards to be loved and adored.

To win the contest, dogs strut their stuff down the red carpet to a panel of very professional judges.

The lil’ boy and his human, Yvonne Morones, won an appearance on the US Today show ‘cos he’s famous now, $1,500, another $1,500 to donate to an animal shelter of their choice, and a big ol’ trophy for the pool room.

“He’s Scamp the Champ, no longer Scamp the Tramp,” Morones told the Santa Rosa Press-Democrat. “I think the audience saw his beautiful spirit and everything he’s given back to the community.”

When he’s not winning competitions, Scamp – a rescue pup – often visits schools and local retirement homes. Morones adopted Scamp back in 2014, after coming across his profile on animal adoption website Pet Finder.

Competition publicist Christy Gentry told AP that most of the dogs in the contest were rescued from off the streets, kill shelters, or unethical breeders from across the US.

“What we’re really doing is we’re showcasing dogs that have been rescued and adopted and brought into loving homes,” Gentry said. “These are sort of spokesdogs for adoption.”

To claim his title, Scamp beat 18 other contestants including extremely cool dog, Rascal. Mr Rascal – and I can’t stress this enough – will steal your girl.
