Ryan Gosling Paid Tribute To His Dear Departed Dog, And We Need A Moment

Dogs are pure love, so we were very sad for Ryan Gosling when we learned that his own beloved pooch, a mixed-breed named George, passed away late last year at the age of 17.

Gosling has been paying tribute to the pup recently, wearing his dog tag as a necklace, and rocking a shirt with his photo on it while closing out last weekend’s episode of Saturday Night Live.

The actor appeared on a recent episode of Ellen and spoke more about George, saying that, as is the case with many of the best puppers, he definitely had as many human traits as dog ones. He explained:

“There was something about George where … I think he felt like being a dog was beneath him. He would not do tricks. If you wanted him to sit down, you had to sort of convince him it was in his best interest. Like, ‘Look, we’re gonna be in this car for about three hours, so if you want to sit down you might be more comfortable this way.’ Then he might consider it.”

George was also the kind of dog who would climb in empty seats at restaurant, assuming they were for him, and sit there “like a gentleman.” We’ll let Ryan Gosling tell the rest,  but suffice to say, George sounds like a very good boy:
