With so much bad shit going on in the world, here at PEDESTRIAN.TV we figured you might need something completely freakin’ ADORABLE to brighten up your day. Enter Shon, a five-year-old kid who dresses up as a superhero named Catman to save homeless cats in his Philadelphia neighbourhood.
OH GOD. OUR HEARTS CANNOT TAKE IT.
Shon’s two aunts, Kia Griffin and Kris Papiernik, run a cat rescue organisation called Kolony Kats in Philly. Since he was just 3 years old, he’s been accompanying them as they distribute food, water, and most importantly, chin, ear and belly scratches to around 50 homeless cats in the area.
The women were intially a little hesitant to let the lil’ guy join them, but he was apparently insistent, with Kris telling People:
“The first time he wanted to go out with us, we were hesitant, because feral cats are shy and easily scared and he was so little and rambunctious. But the cats really took to him, especially one named Bug that had eluded us for awhile. As soon as Shon showed up, that cat came right over and started rubbing against his legs. This was a cat that we couldn’t even look at for two years without him running away from us. Because of Shon, we were finally able to take Bug to get neutered, then bring him back to his little colony. Shon simply has a magic touch with cats.”
It’s seriously too much.
Shon froths on superheroes, so he likes to wear different costumes when he goes out with his aunts to feed cats. He’s got Batman, Superman, Spider-man, The Flash and even a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles outfit – but he goes by the name of Catman, of course.
Like any decent superhero, he has a special move – the “superpower scratch”. And his aunties say that he makes sure he devotes equal love and attention to all the stray kitties he visits.
If you aren’t crying yet, I will leave you with one more for the road.
Shon’s got a superhero slogan, and it’s simply: “Be kind to cats”.
