Experts Request You Pls Not Kill Deadly Spiders Coaxed Out By Rainy Weather

A whole bunch of deadly af spiders have emerged from their winter burrows because it is rainy and warm out – and they’re coming for you and your family.

Still, despite the scariness of the very poisonous funnel web spider who has set up residence in your shower, animal experts would really appreciate it if you did not go ahead and kill the insect, as Nine News reports. Be aware of them, and don’t get yourself poisoned, but also pls have mercy on the terrifying eight-legged land squids.

The spiders have emerged form their secret spider hideout to find a mate and chew up insects – so maybe keeping your spiderbro alive could help rid your house of flies? And you could help in the two gross furry insects find love?

Dan Rumsey, a zookeeper at the Australian Reptile Park, would like to remind you that funnel webs can be milked for their venom, which is used to make anti-venom to treat bites. The Park is the only one in Australia which does that life-saving work. Like literally, no one has died from a funnel web spider bite since they put the practice in place back in the early ’80s.

Rumsey wants you to catch your spider instead, ideally in a glass jar with holes in the lid by using a plastic ruler or long spoon to guide the little guy in. While you should know that he can’t jump or climb smooth surfaces, you’re advised to exercise extreme caution. “If you’re close enough to touch them they’re close enough to bite you. No one’s ever been bitten trying to catch us a spider.

Is this true? It doesn’t sound true? But the man who would know says it’s true.

The Park have a vested interest in you being kind to spideys, because they like to have hundreds on hand over summer in order to help people who get bit – Rumsey says they only have 20 ready if needed.

They’re extremely valuable to us at the park. We need them they save a handful of lives each year.

And if you get bit, because the awful venomous creatures have been living in shoes – which you keep outside, you heathen – put a compression bandage on the wound and go straight to hospital, okay? Okay, now you’re safe.

But don’t forget, we live in Australia! We have all kinds of creatures that do biting!
