Let me preface this by saying: I’m sorry. I’m so sorry for what you’re about to read because although the largely wholesome Twitter account WeRateDogs has today added to its coveted list of 15/10 pups, it’s still going to make you piss tears.
The account’s celebrated 15/10s are all for dogs who are exceptionally good, very loved, or have lived a full and rich life before crossing the Rainbow Bridge. Only 17 pups have been honoured with the rare 15/10 rating, and this week the 18th Very Good Dog was inducted.
On Monday, WeRateDogs announced that fellow online pooch Halo – the soft, watermelon-enjoying pup of @dog_feelings – was the latest to join the puppy hall of fame, after the Thoughts of Dog team announced she had passed away at the age of nine.
Goodbye, this is simply too much for me on a cold May afternoon.
Thoughts of Dog – which has always posted the thoughts from the perspective of a household dog – broke character to announce the news and introduce everyone to the actual dog behind the inspiration, and it’s torn me clean in half.
Following the announcement of Halo’s passing, WeRateDogs declared the nine-year-old blissed out pup would join the ranks of the sacred sect of 15/10 poochies.
This is Halo, but you know her better as the @dog_feelings profile pic. Her iconic watermelon smile has given a voice to dogs everywhere. Halo passed away last week at the age of 9. She went peacefully and surrounded by her family. She didn’t suffer for a moment. 15/10 ❤️ pic.twitter.com/BaKeeKmhlx

Oh god, that photo of squishy baby Halo, I can’t. The iconic shot of her totally vibing out with a chunk of watermelon, the gorgeous shot of her emanating real Old Girl energies. It’s ruining me.
Followers and dog lovers have poured out love and respect for the very good girl, recognising that Halo has given them so much joy and happiness over the time she’s been the face of the dog thoughts account.
I don’t know Halo or her family but my heart is truly breaking for them right now. ???? her picture alone has given me countless amounts of smiles when I needed them most. Enjoy paradise Halo, and please help your family get through this terrible time. The world loves & misses you

My deepest condolences to Halo’s family. She is running free with so many friends, including a small guy with plenty of pizza and donuts to share. pic.twitter.com/ixPq5ARJP4

This is exactly me, if I had a dog and not two bastard brother cats. I’ll definitely be giving all my hound friends an extra cuddle when I see them next, though.
Rest in treats, Halo.
