I Was Today Years Old When I Learned You Can Wear Yr Jeans As A Cape To Find Out If They Fit

jeans hack

As a three-time university drop out, I learn a lot of my life skills via TikTok, but during my regular Tuesday night doom-scroll through the ‘Tok, I stumbled across a lifehack that has quite literally consumed every single one of my brain cells ever since.

I have lived 22 years on this cursed planet, and I like to think I know a thing or two about stuff, but I was today years old when I learned that if your pants fit around your neck (!!) they will fit around your waist (!!!!!)

ITS ABSOLUTE MADNESS! I’m SCREAAAAAMING.

The video showcases a number of fashion hacks, but the pants-neck-waist hack is the only one that has managed to live rent-free in my brain, so I simply must spread the good word about… pants.

According to TikTok user @atyasmeengarcia, if the waistband of a pair of jeans fit around your neck (like a cape), they will fit you like a glove. Honestly, this is a game-changer.

This hack is far from new, and has been extensively covered in the media on tv and in magazines, but until I stumbled across this TikTok, I had no idea it was a thing.

On account of the fact that I have the world’s worst case of chronic verbal diarrhea, I immediately took to Twitter to share this information with anyone and everyone who would listen. And to my surprise, this is apparently common knowledge (at least for anyone who has worked in clothing retail).

According to my research, the theory is based on the concept that your waist is usually twice the circumference of your neck.

Obviously, it goes without saying that everybody is built differently and you shouldn’t feel weird if your waist to neck ratio isn’t exactly in line with this old wives’ tale.

However, if you’re unsure whether or not to try on a pair of jeans, this little life hack could save you a few extra trips to the changerooms.
