Zach Galifianakis Will Be In A New FX Series Co-Created By Louis CK

There honestly isn’t a version of this world where I can imagine this combination of people coming together on something that sucks. And if there is, please don’t tell me about it because I don’t think I can handle the heartbreak.

Eternally beardy and insanely funny character actor Zach Galifianakis‘ might have been playing things a little bit cool over the past couple of years, ever since the runaway success of the Hangover franchise took him from cult favourite stand up to Most Popular Halloween Costume 2009. Fortunately for everyone who enjoys laughter, he’s getting back to work, with American cable network FX (you might remember them as the channel behind shows like It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, Louie, Archer and The League) have announced that they’ve ordered ten episodes of a new comedy series starring Galifianakis that was co-created by fellow comedian’s comedian Louis CK (whose outstanding show Louie also airs on FX, funnily enough).
The show, entitled Baskets, centres around a would-be clown played by Zach, and has an official synopsis that reads thusly.

In a world constrained by corporate interests and the homogenisation of society, one man in Bakersfield, California dares to follow his dream of becoming a professional clown. But after an unsuccessful enrolment at a prestigious clowning school in Paris, the only job he can find is with the local rodeo. Baskets follows Chip Baskets’ (Zach Galifianakis) pursuit of his dream, against all odds, to be a respected clown.

Alright for starters, yes. Absolutely yes. Galifianakis playing a highly trained clown taking a job he feels beneath him whilst struggling for respect? And the characters name is CHIP BASKETS?
If that’s not enough to convince you (and – seriously – if it’s not, what’s wrong with you?) then here’s this as well. The show’s other co-creator, alongside Louis CK, is a writer/director by the name of Jonathan Krisel. It’s alright if that name doesn’t immediately sound familiar to you. What I can tell you about Krisel is that he’s no stranger to co-creating new shows.
He’s previously had a hand in creating Portlandia alongside Fred Armisen and Carrie Brownstein, as well as the woefully underrated Kroll Show with Nick Kroll. And along with those two shows, he’s written extensively for both Saturday Night Live and Tim & Eric Awesome Show, Great Job!

Now if you’ll excuse me, I’m off to find whoever it is I need to give every single cent I’ve ever earned in my life to for this.
Baskets will hit the air at some point in 2016.
