The gifted Frenchman got his start at Christian Dior at just 17 years of age. At 21 he was appointed the Head of Christian Dior, until 1962 when he started his own eponymous label which he helmed until his 2002 retirement. Yves Saint Laurent has been credited with redefining the female silhouette; most famously in his Le Smoking or Tuxedo jacket which is among the most sought after items in women’s wear.
