20 Y.O. YouTuber Pleads Guilty After Shooting Partner Dead In Failed Stunt

The 20-year-old American woman who shot her partner dead in a YouTube stunt gone wrong has pleaded guilty to second-degree manslaughter.

Monalisa Perez entered a plea bargain at a Minnesota court on Friday, admitting responsibility for the June death of her 22-year-old boyfriend, Pedro Ruiz III.

Court documents outline the attempted stunt, which was intended for their burgeoning online channel devoted to pranks and other daring exploits.

Ruiz allegedly convinced Perez to fire his .50 calibre Desert Eagle handgun at him from short range, while Ruiz used a thick book held against his chest as protection.

To counter her apparent reservations, he produced a different book he’d previously shot at, which had managed to stop the projectile.

Perez took to Twitter before they filmed the incident, saying it wasn’t her idea.

When Perez fired at Ruiz, the bullet penetrated the book and entered his chest. He died shortly afterwards.

Local media reports the plea deal calls for Perez to spend 180 days in jail, with ten years on probation. It also calls for her to be banned from possessing a firearm.

Furthermore, the deal reportedly bars Perez from earning money from the video, which was recorded on two cameras. Footage of the event was turned over to investigators.

Perez is expected to be sentenced in February.
