Young Campers Who Went Missing In Victoria Found Dead In Car

The bodies of two young Victorians who went missing while camping almost a week ago have been found by police.

Caleb Forbes, 22, and Shannon Lowden, 21, left to go camping in the Baw Baw National Park in eastern Victoria last week.

The couple were due to return home on Saturday but were reported missing after Forbes failed to turn up to work on Sunday.

Police, emergency crews, and volunteers all conducted searches near the Thomson Dam, aiming to cover over 1,000 square kilometres of space.

On Friday, police confirmed the bodies of Forbes and Lowden were found deceased in their car around 11:00am, east of Thomson Dam.

Inspector Shane Cashman said the Trig East track where the car was found was “very difficult” to negotiate.

“It’s almost a sheer drop to the side and we will put some work into finding out what has actually occurred to make that car leave the road,” he said.

“We’ve spoken to the family and they are understandably devastated.”

“There has been a lot of resources that have gone into this, a lot of family, friends and volunteers have turned up here helping out to try and find these two. The support we have had, we can’t thank the community enough.”
