You Think That’s A Climate Change Rally? THIS Is A Climate Change Rally

There’s a lot of good shit that happens in Melbourne (mainly coffee), but no one can deny that the city is also really bloody good at organised protests.

Today, climate change rallies happened all over the world, preceding the 2015 United Nations Climate Change Conference in Paris. In Australia, we held rallies in Sydney, Adelaide, Brisbane, Bendigo, Hobart, Perth, Cairns, and Canberra; but the biggest we had to offer was deffo Melbourne
According to reports, up to FIFTY-FUCKEN-THOUSAND Melburnians marched to show the government that, yeah, climate change is a very real concern that exists in our country, and yeah, fossil fuels suck a bag of dicks, and YEAH, we’d like some major federal action on this rather than pretend it’s not real and contribute to the decline of the earth we live on.  *inhales*
The rally was so bloody huge that The Cat Empire actually performed for members of the crowd, which included Labor leader Bill Shorten, and Greens leader Richard Di Natale.
Australian Conservation Foundation president Geoff Cousins said voters were over their government ignoring the issue:
“People will not keep voting for politicians who continue to put the priorities of big polluters ahead of the needs of the community.”

PREEEEACH.

Fifty thousand people (in Melbourne alone) is a lot of people. Ya’ll may want to consider this.
