Y’All Sure Do Love Nose Beers: There’s More Coke Comin’ Into Oz Than Ever

Apparently, there’s recently been more cocaine coming into Australia than ever, so you’d think market price would go down! But apparently that’s not how it works. Honestly, you’d think they’d teach you stuff like this school, y’know?
In the last six months, Oz’s Federal Police and Border Force have made ‘significant’ seizures of cocaine, which included the 95kg of cocaine taken from a luxury cruise ship the MS Sea Princess in August (remember when those Canadians posted as tourist on an Instagram sponno’d holiday but were actually smuggling loads of drugs?), and the whopping total of 1100kg of coke confiscated in the insane drug bust in Sydney on Christmas Day.
That’s a helluva lot of drergs! Yeah, cocaine trafficking is reportedly about to hit a record high in Australia
In the financial year from 2014 to 2015, cocaine detected (which doesn’t necessarily mean seized) at Aussie borders came to a total of 368.9kg. The year before that, the total was 245.6kg.
But news.com.au is reporting that in the six months leading up to December, police seized more than 600kg at Aussie borders and identified a further 632kg which was heading straight for us. It’s a bloody BLIZZARD.
The Australian Criminal Intelligence Commission (ACIC) said that this represented an increase in both the amount of importations, as well as an increase in the weight of cocaine shipments seized at the border.
Despite the country being “awash” with nose candy, coke in Australia is insanely expensive: 1 teensy weensy lil’ gram ranges between $250 and $900 depending on location, the most expensive market being the Northern Territory
