An officially certified gronk in Algeria has been sentenced to two years behind bars for holding his relative’s baby over a high-rise balcony, posting a photo of the act on Facebook, and writing “1,000 likes or I will drop him.”
Pretty shortly after the dumb-as-rocks photo was shared online, social media users called for the dude to be arrested and tried for child abuse. Police then went ahead and did just that, charging him with endangering the bewildered kid’s life.
In court, the man claimed that the offending image had been photoshopped by other users. The kid’s father also urged for him not to be locked up, claiming that he was just goofing around. Regardless, the judge binned that claim.
Psychologist Dr Noura Rahmani told The New Arab she believed the man was “unaware of the magnitude of this heinous act which he has committed.
“In the future, the child may suffer from episodic fits resulting the fear he endured in this act.”
Yeah, look. Don’t dangle young kids off balconies.
