Woolies Channels Ice Cube, Spins Mouldy Hommus Into Internet Gold

Forget Dan from Optus, whoever’s running the Woolworths Facebook page is the real MVP, and has been for some time.

The social page frequently churns out solid gold – playing along with customers tongue-in-cheek chiding, often out-smarting many – but it may well have outdone itself this time.
A plucky young scamp by the name of Ben Hunter recently found, much to his chagrin, that his recent purchase of a much-beloved tub of hommus was sporting a rather unwelcome patch of mould on it.
Rather than just admit defeat and do away with the otherwise delicious batch of chickpeas, olive oil, garlic, and tahini, Hunter took to Facebook to voice his displeasure directly to Woolies – dropping a little sly reference to Ice Cube in the process.
Never being one to miss out on any fun, the Woolies social team took that ball and exploded it.
And when other people started getting involved, Woolies’ game simply stepped up to a whole other level.
Well played, Woolies. Well played indeed.
