A New South Wales woman is facing charges after allegedly ignoring two barricades and driving drunk into floodwaters at Albion Park, Wollongong, in the early hours of this morning.
The east coast of NSW, in case you’re lucky enough not to be there right now, is a total shitshow, with high winds, widespread flooding and major disruptions to public transport and other infrastructure.
Drivers have been warned to stay off the roads, although nonetheless, the State Emergency Service has rescued close to 80 motorists over the last 24 hours, as rain continues to lash the state.
The unnamed 33-year-old woman in question was rescued when her Honda Accord became trapped in floodwaters at around 5am. She blew a reading of 0.067, and is due to appear in court charged with low range drink driving on July 6.
