Woman Found Dead At Buck’s Party ID’d As 20 Y.O. Member Of Defence Force

The woman found dead in a shower in a Melbourne serviced apartment over the weekend has been formally identified by police. According to a Victoria Police spokesperson, the woman was identified as a 20-year-old from Western Australia.
The ‘Australian‘ is additionally reporting that the woman was a member of the Australian Defence Force, citing sources naming her as a member of the Australian Army, a claim confirmed by an ADF spokesperson in a statement this evening:

“Defence extends its deepest sympathies to the family and friends of the deceased.”
The name of the woman is yet to be released.
The NSW and ACT men had rented an apartment at the Oaks on Market hotel in the city’s CBD for a buck’s night celebration on Saturday. Seven other men were in attendance, and have since returned interstate.

Emergency services were called to the hotel at about 8am on Sunday morning, after one of the guests found the woman’s body in the shower.
