WTF: Someone Allegedly Faked Being A Doctor At Bankstown-Lidcombe Hospital For 8 Whole Months

Bankstown-Lidcombe Hospital

An employee is being investigated after allegedly posing as a doctor at Bankstown-Lidcombe Hospital for eight months.

Police have launched an investigation into the employee, who allegedly faked their qualifications while working at the Sydney hospital.

The hospital realised on Monday that the employee wasn’t registered with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency, which accredits all medical professionals. They were immediately removed from their duties, but they had already been working at the hospital since January.

A hospital spokesperson said the employee had been fully supervised during their time there, and Bankstown-Lidcombe Hospital has since referred the matter to NSW Police for investigation. The employee could be facing criminal charges.

A police spokesman told the NCA NewsWire on Tuesday that NSW Health referred the matter to Bankstown Area Command.

The hospital is also conducting an internal investigation and has reported the matter to AHPRA.

More to come.
