There’s close calls, and then there’s *close* calls.
And a video showing a Kurdish sniper miss a bullet fired by an ISIS terrorist at her head by mere centimetres definitely falls into the latter.
What’s more, the footage – taken by a journalist embedded with the YPJ, which is an all-female Kurdish military branch of the of the Kurdish People’s Protection Units, and posted to Twitter – shows the unidentified sharpshooter laughing, like she didn’t almost get her brains blown out.
The sharpshooter was taking aim through the window of a building in the ISIS-controlled Syrian city of Raqqa when a chunk of the wall just behind her head exploded with the force of a bullet, showering the room with plaster.
She immediately ducks down but laughs off the close encounter like it’s NBD, sticking her tongue out and generally looking far too chill with the situation.
The reporter who filmed the incident, Hemze Hamza, tweeted about her bravery.
“Kurdish women know no fear,” he said. “Your average human being would be scared for life after being so close to death but she kept laughing.”
