WHO Magazine’s Ill-Conceived Bday Tribute To Ray Meagher Convinced Home & Away Fans He’d Died

Ray Meagher

Home and Away fans are fkn losing it after a magazine made it seem like beloved Aussie actor Ray Meagher had died.

WHO Magazine posted a ‘tribute’ for Home and Away icon Ray Meagher, who plays Alf Stewart, for his 77th birthday – and um, I don’t think the post gave off the vibe they intended.

Specifically, the post made it seem like he had passed away. Which, you know, is not really the celebratory birthday energy you’d expect.

In a Facebook post that’s since been deleted, WHO Magazine posted a tribute to Ray Meagher with an old-looking picture of him with Georgie Parker, his on-screen daughter.

Who Magazine Ray Meagher
Why this old-timey filter of all things???

The post’s caption read: “‘The whole cast and crew love you very much’: Tributes are flowing for Home and Away’s most iconic star, Ray Meagher.” And, you know, considering the word ‘tribute’ was used with absolutely no mention of his birthday, I can see how fans were mislead.

Also, someone please explain why on earth WHO Magazine decided to use a grainy, sepia-toned image to celebrate a 77-year-old man with a history of cardiac issues. Think about the implications! Y’all can’t play like this!!

“Omg I thought he died, Wow. Just terrify a nation,” a fan commented.

“Jesus guys! Don’t give the whole of Australia a collective heart attack. PICK YOUR HEADLINES BETTER,” demanded another.

One angry reader even went as far as to call the post a “disgusting attempt at clickbait.”

The whole situation is a morbidly hilarious mess, made worse by the fact that Meagher was in the news a couple of years ago for undergoing heart surgery after a shock triple bypass. Obviously, people would assume the worst when confronted with an old-timey ‘tribute’ picture of him.

Rest assured Home and Away fans, Meagher is very much still alive and kicking.
