Two Believed Dead Following Helicopter Crash In North Queensland

Two people have died following a helicopter crash in Queensland‘s Whitsundays, according to the Australian Transport Safety Bureau.

According to the Whitsunday Times, The helicopter, carrying five people, crashed in the water 250 metres off Hardy Reef pontoon, 65 kilometres north-east of the Whitsundays.

The Whitsunday Times is reporting that of the three remaining passengers, two escaped with minor injuries and one is in a serious condition.

At time of reporting, Queensland Police and other emergency personnel are en route to the crash site, with Queensland Ambulance Service paramedics having provided CPR instructions over the phone to the crash site.

According to the Civil Aviation Safety Authority, the Eurocopter 120 went down at around 4:30pm.

The Courier-Mail reports that the helicopter was fully submerged at the time of the crash.
