A Brand New Greyhound Adoption Cafe Just Opened In Melb, There’s Yr Weekend

A very precious cafe has opened up in Melbourne by the Greyhound Adoption Program, and by God it’s your duty to go there immediately.

The GAP Café,  is a place where you can go and have a cuppa, take along your very noodly pup (or any other canine friends), and also give a retired racing greyhound a new life if you’re wanting to bring a long boy or long girl home with you. And for the dogs, there’s puppaccinos and doggy doughnuts to snack on.

After Victoria re-homed a record number of greyhounds last year, the Greyhound Racing Victoria adoption team decided they needed a space to bring Melb dog lovers and pups looking for a forever home together.

The Victorian Government granted nearly $133k from the  to fund the opening of the cafe, which gives a relaxed environment for people looking to adopt to come and meet the retired racing dogs. The GAP team are hoping the cafe will also help dogs that have grown up in rural areas to adjust to the city life as well as provide a space for the wider greyhound community to come and hang out, and maybe do some zoomies in Flagstaff Park across the road.

With inside and outside spaces for a nice brew and belly rub, GAP Café is open at 447 King St, West Melbourne 7am-3pm weekdays and 8am-3pm on the weekend.

So garn, get over there and have a coffee and even if you don’t adopt a sweet long dog, at least you’ve spent some good cuddle time with puppies that absolutely deserve a good scritch.
