West Hollywood Council Passed A Motion To Remove Trump’s Walk Of Fame Star

Ever since he was ingloriously elected (and even well before then), Donald Trump‘s star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame has been the target of repeated vandalism, defacing, protest, and general pissing-on. A few weeks ago, some intrepid soul took a pickaxe and bashed the living shit out of it. And now, if a local council gets its way, it’ll soon be gone forever.

The West Hollywood City Council has passed a resolution urging the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce and the Los Angeles City Council to permanently remove the star from its Hollywood Boulevard location.

The council met on Monday night (US time) to consider the resolution, the official language of which urged for the star’s removal on the basis of the President’s repeatedly proven attitudes towards women.

The City Council will consider adopting a resolution urging the Los Angeles City Council and Hollywood Chamber of Commerce to remove President Donald J. Trump’s star from the Hollywood Walk of Fame, due to his disturbing treatment of women and other actions that do not meet the shared values of the City of West Hollywood, the region, state, and country.

John Duran, West Hollywood’s impossibly ripped Mayor, confirmed the resolution was passed by unanimous vote.

Among the other reasons listed on the resolution include Trump’s policies on climate change, the GOP’s abhorrent removal of immigrant children from their parents, and Trump’s treatment of transgender persons.

It should be noted that West Hollywood City Council does not control the land that Trump’s star resides on – completely apropos of nothing, right next to that of Kevin Spacey – but as the neighbouring council it has some minor bureaucratic clout.

The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce, however, has repeatedly stated throughout past years that it does not – and will not – remove stars from the Walk of Fame due to public backlash campaigns, citing the fact that the walk has historical landmark status. The Chamber refused to remove Bill Cosby‘s star from the walk, and the various stars embroiled in the #MeToo movement who have stars all remain fixtures on the walk.

Earlier today, 24-year-old Austin Clay was formally charged by the Los Angeles county district attorney with one count of felony vandalism over the July 26th destruction of the star; a charge that carries a maximum sentence of 3 years in county jail.

Trump’s star has since been repaired to its original state.
