Over five million photos are uploaded to Instagram every day. That means in the twelve months since the launch of our inaugural photography awards some one hundred eighty-two million five hundred thousand photos have been uploaded to everyone’s favourite photo sharing app alone. But don’t let that put you off!
Staggering numbers of selfies aside, we couldn’t be more proud to announce the no filter return of the Pedestrian.tv Photography Awards, which are this year presented with a little help from our friends at Lipton Ice Tea and Contiki!
Once again we’ll be conducting a nation-wide search for the best photos taken in the last twelve months across seven different categories. From the front lines of music, sport and fashion to the dynamic worlds of travel, mobile and social photography, arts and culture, we’re looking for the finest photos to go into the running to win an around the world travel experience on an exclusive photography assignment for Contiki and Pedestrian.
The winner will spend a month and a half exploring the world with Contiki. Firstly on the European Inspiration tour getting snap happy across the Czech Republic, France and Austria (just to name a few). Then onto the Asian Adventure that will see them delving into Cambodia, Laos and Thailand. To finish off this life changing journey they will spend a week sailing from the Whitsundays to Cape Tribulation on Contiki’s Island & Rainforest tour.
To enter, all you have to do is submit a photo taken within the last year in one of the following categories. Entries will open later this week and will close on Tuesday October 30th 2012, so consider this your wake-up call to action.
You’ll be able to enter as many photos as you like, but with great freedom comes great responsibility* to put your most photogenic foot forward. You’re going to want to start filtering out your best and brightest from the bunch to slip into our smorgasbord of categories:

The Pedestrian.tv Photo of the Year and category winners will be selected by our soon-to-be-announced expert panel of impressive humans and industry experts and presented at an awards event as part of the Lipton Ice Tea Virgin Cocktails Summer Exhibition Tour this December, showcasing photos that celebrate the unforgettable moments of fashion, music, travel, sport and art. The Exhibition Tour will also hit Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide and Perth throughout summer.
