We Regret To Inform You The Tragic Dognapping Tale Of Egg The Pug Was Fake

You might remember the heart-wrenching story of dognap victim Egg the Pug from earlier this month. Remember this precious lil’ guy?

He was reported stolen by his owner, who said he was robbed at knifepoint in Sydney‘s inner west. Poor, sweet, beautiful Egg the Pug
Now, we’re afraid we have even more terrible news to report: while Egg is indeed still legitimately missing, the story given to police was apparently completely made up.
The 29-year-old told police that he was mugged by three men with knives; they took his wallet and backpack, then grabbed Egg as they ran off. He even gave a physical description to the cops, saying all three men were around 30 years of age, and of Mediterranean or Middle Eastern appearance.
At the time, Detective Inspector Paul Arnold told press that the was “extremely distraught” and therefore did not want to speak to the media.
Egg‘s owner has now been charged by NSW Police for making a false report, although they say they have no idea why he did it.
Last night, the man went to Auburn Police Station, where he was questioned by officers. They then issued the man with a court notice, for false representation resulting in a police investigation.
A NSW Police spokesperson told media this morning,
“The main thing is, we really don’t know what has happened to Egg or where Egg is.

Anyone with information of the dog’s whereabouts is urged to contact police.”
He is due to appear in Burwood Local Court on April 6.
BEAUTIFUL EGG. PLEASE COME HOME. WE LOVE YOU.
