WATCH: ‘Westworld’ Gets The Retro 80s Opening Titles It Richly Deserves

Follow this train of logic:

  • Stranger Things‘ is a show we like.
  • Its retro 80s-style opening credits made it even better.
  • If all shows we liked had retro 80s-style opening credits they would all be even better.
The heavily synth-based soundtrack of Netflix‘s biggest hit of the year, coupled with its stark, worn-out VHS style titled credits helped push the show from good to great. So it makes sense then that people would start tinkering around with similar credits for the other hit shows of the year. Largely because that style of graphic is plainly awesome, and also because there are some extraordinarily talented people in the world who have far too much time on their hands.
YouTube user ‘MessyPandas‘ (great name, if we’re being honest) has thrown together a synthy, laser grid-filled opening title sequence for HBO‘s very own sleeper hit of the year ‘Westworld,’ in a sequence that’s part that-3D-sequence-from-The Simpsons, and part AutoCAD wet dream.

Best part of all is that it’s super easy to follow. Unlike, y’know, literally everything else to do with the show.
Westworld‘ got picked up by the US cable TV giant for a 10-episode second season. But don’t expect to see it on screens any time before 2018.
